Middletown New York Aug 26 United Press reports heavy damage after a storm sweeping the Catskills caused floods over Rondout valley. Death toll stands at three with residents scrambling to repair ruined bridges 100 houses displaced and property losses exceeding 1 000 000. rescue efforts persist as counties mobilize roads and utilities crews work overnight to restore services and assess ongoing danger.
State Treasurer announces refunds totaling 1074 to be shared by 2166 cities towns and townships from insurance premiums collected in 1927. Two percent tax payments from out of state fire insurance companies amounting to 10068 will be distributed to districts including Armstrong Butler Clarion Clearfield Venango Mercer and Warren.

Harrisburg August 28 The Pennsylvania department of highways reported 365 deaths from automobile accidents in 1928 up to now. During July there were 48 fatalities and 2,87 accidents in the state. Of the 365 killed this year, 201 were pedestrians.
Hundreds of Wattsburg residents are anticipated for the Erie county agricultural exposition opening today and continuing through Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Exhibitors include Trunk Brooks of Brooks Studio with color samples and a new lighted transparency novelty. Mrs Brooks and Joseph Scheefers assist. Paris August 28 Foreign ministers announced broad adherence to the Kellogg Pact. More than a dozen nations were reported to have notified Briand and Kellogg of intent to join. One copy of the treaty remains in Paris, the other will go to the United States. Formal adherence and parliamentary ratification were expected for entry.
A party from Corry and Meadville, en route to Amsterdam, narrowly escaped death in a two vehicle crash near Amsterdam about thirteen miles from Schenectady. Mrs Nichols drove, the car skidded on a slippery road, overturned in a ditch. Mrs Hewitt suffered three broken ribs. Mrs Teasdale bruised and shaken. Mrs Raymond cut and bruised. Mrs Nichols shaken but unhurt overall. The car was badly damaged yet drivable after repairs and Mrs Nichols continued home to Corry.
