Automobile Insurance Hike Refused in Pennsylvania
Harrisburg AP The State Insurance Department rejected a 9.1 percent automobile insurance rate increase sought by the Insurance Company of North America. Commissioner David C. Maxwell held the company did not prove its proposed private passenger family rate revisions were not excessive unfairly discriminatory or inadequate. The filing dated June 10 sought August 26 effectiveness with a July 22 public hearing. The firm cited investment income on unearned premiums and reserves, while stating the net impact on family policyholders would be 435100.
