Locomotive No. 9000 debut stuns on Montreal run
Railroad magnates applaud the first practical demonstration of Canadien Nation Railway’s giant off electric locomotive No 9000 on a regular passenger run from Montreal. It accelerates a heavy eight car train to 60 mph in under two minutes, weighs 65 000 pounds, and uses a diesel engine to drive an electric generator feeding the motors. Analysts say the generator could power a city of 13 000. Also notes buyers flood stock markets amid a string of fortunes reported during the recent pullback, warning of dangers from reckless speculation.
