A federal order signed by U S District Judge Gerald K Weber confirms the sale of Erie Forge and Steel Corp to National Forge Co of Irvine. The deal, to settle debts and preserve about 1200 jobs, includes 2 250 000 cash and 7 365 076 in outstanding debts and taxes.
William Garretson 20 of Lancaster Ohio claims unlawful arrest in connection with the Sharon Tate killings and four others. He says city officials must pay 1.25 million or face suit after being booked and released following nearly three days of questioning.
Bangkok reports that the United States and Thailand will start talks on September 1 to discuss a graduated reduction of about 50 000 U S troops in Thailand. Foreign Minister Thanat Khoman and Ambassador Leonard Unger will lead the initial discussions with further detailed talks planned.
