Museum Nudes Protest Shocks New York Visitors
In a Sunday stunt at the Museum of Modern Art, eight nude performers including six women and two men posed in the museum garden and pool. Kayoi Kusama, a 29-year-old Japanese sculptress, staged the event to critique perceived museum modernity while drawing about 200 onlookers and a surprised security detail. The protest aimed to provoke discussion on what counts as modern art.
