Sister Of Corry Woman Dies Planning Visit

The Journal published a photo of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Thomas of Corry leaving the royal airport by chartered plane for connections to a jet flight to the west coast. They would be met in Inglewood California by Mrs Thomas sister and brother in law Mr and Mrs Jack Edler. The four planned to continue to Haigillon Nation Trip with departure from Los Angeles Saturday. By then all arrangements were complete and passage booked aboard a jet. A few hours later Mrs Ed Jen was stricken with a heart attack and died at 1 30 this morning California time. Funeral services will be held there on Friday.

Head Start funds eyed for Crawford Mercer counties

The Crawford County and Mercer County Head Start programs seek federal support under the Doffriti Action Program and the Elementary Education Act and Community Action Program. Fire Causes $2,500 Loss To East Main Home

A fire from an overheated floor furnace caused $2,500 damage to a East Main street residence. At 8:06 a.m. firefighters found heavy smoke with no visible flames. They searched the unoccupied home before learning Mrs. Jewell was at Corry Memorial Hospital. The fire spread from the floor furnace to the second floor roof and porch.

Corry Man Is Given Suspended Sentence on Burglary Larceny

Navid Logal Buell of Corry was sentenced by Judge John A. Cherry in Crawford County Court to a two year probation after a guilty plea on burglary and larceny. A habeas petition claimed constitutional rights were violated by lack of intelligent waiver for court-appointed counsel at the February 1961 sentencing. Judge Cherry granted a new trial, then Buell pleaded guilty again to the same charge and received the suspended sentence, with return to a State correctional institution to serve the Erie County Court sentence.
