An out of control butane truck struck Hillcrest Haven in Electra Texas killing three elderly residents and injuring one. About 35 patients were rescued as flames swept the one story building causing extensive damage. Driver Dan Craighead 22 fled the scene and was hospitalized after a crash across from the home. The deceased were Mrs Mary Lee Sorrells 87 Electra Mrs Maud Barker of Dallas and Mrs Myrtle Hirnt of unknown age.
A Corry family escaped serious injury in Erie when their car was broadside by a second vehicle at Elmwood and 6th streets. Mrs Mather suffered a bruised arm and facial cuts while their infant daughter and two other children were lightly bruised. The other driver was Joseph Maloney, 42, of Erie. Vehicle damage was estimated at 500 to 600 dollars.
