Zoning Board to Rule on Gas Station Appeal

The Corry Zoning Board of Appeals will hear a two year old case next Monday night at 7:30 in the Municipal Building. The dispute concerns building a modern service station at the southeast corner of North Center Street and Columbus Avenue. The three member board may call City Solicitor Roger Brown to interpret provisions of the zoning ordinance. The Warren oil firm, via attorney James Frantz, argues the site has been part of its station for years. Public sentiment petitions favored removal of the current building for a new station, but the meeting will not solicit new expressions of opinion. The case mirrors Atlantic Refining Co.’s earlier hospital site appeal, which Council rejected before it could appeal.
