Rap Brown Free After Bail Cut To 15000
H Rap Brown, 23, SNCC chairman, walked free after bail on a federal gun charge was reduced from 25000 to 15000 in a noisy hearing before US District Judge Thomas F Murphy at Foley Square. He left the detention center at 5 20 pm and told a crowd justice is a joke in America. A federal grand jury in New Orleans indicted him on carrying a carbine across state lines while under indictment. He faces charges in Maryland for arson and inciting a riot.
