Babson Criticizes Attitude Toward Selling

A page one continuation shows Babson condemning the bias against selling and arguing that buyers, not sellers, drive the market. He says salespeople have harmed real estate and other sectors during postwar shortages, leaving families fleeced and public trust eroded.

Selling Important to Free Enterprise

The article argues that business profits fell in the first quarter of 1952 due to weak consumer demand and taxation, despite strong war material and consumer goods output. It emphasizes the need for effective selling, advertising, and skilled salesmanship to create demand, boost competition, lower prices, and raise living standards. It advocates journalists and salespeople driving demand, criticizes bland writing, and calls for capable advertising professionals and sales force talent.
