Car Thieves Arrested at Titusville in Series of Thefts

Titusville police under Chief H. Edwards rounded up four youths amid a spree in the area. Spartansburg Man Killed at Warren

Special to the Journal. Spartansburg, Aug. 2. Fred Smith, 21, an employee at a state hospital here, was killed when struck by an automobile driven by John Culbertson, an oil man connected with the Lator for OW and Gas Corporation. Smith died instantly after the car hit him while he rode a bicycle to the hospital. Culbertson and companions left the scene thinking he was alive, but he was dead upon arrival. The Spartansburg coroner’s inquiry is set for this afternoon with no relatives located yet. local officials report the incident is a probable county line tragedy.

Belgians Honor Martyrs Today

Dinant Belgium August 23 officials and citizens gathered to commemorate 600 inhabitants shot by Germans five years ago.
