Manhole Flood Disrupts Phones In Oil City
Water in a manhole in Oil City disrupted toll telephone service across a wide Pennsylvania area. The General Telephone Company manhole houses Bell Cable lines and left only six circuits south of Oil City working. In Titusville long distance to Pittsburgh Butler and Sharon was affected. Crews saw a lead sheath hole allowing water to contact cables. Bell workers said lightning could have struck. Restoration time not estimated, likely late night.
