Art Metal Construction Co closed permanently three Jamestown plants, putting between 400 and 900 workers out of work. Lodge 1559 members said the union met last night with most suspending the meeting at Nordic Temple. The company denied permanent closures for plants 2, 3 and 4 and said plants 1 and 3 may reopen when conditions permit, while 2 and 4 reopen only if business improves. Workforce reductions also hit Art Metal print shop, affecting 18 ITS and Pressmen's Union members.
