Richard Staples of Wayne street, slightly hurt earlier in the week, filed a report with city officers describing how his one car crash occurred when his dog on the front seat tried to jump out a window. He said he lost control while grabbing the dog and the vehicle struck a utility pole.
Adlai Stevenson returns from a six month world tour and will report to President Eisenhower. He says he does not know if he will seek the 1956 presidency and notes Russia appears to retreat in the cold war. He plans to stay active in politics as circumstances permit and aid the Democratic Party.
In Jersey City a man identified as Henry Grunewald of Washington DC and a woman were found overcome by gas fumes in an apartment early today. Police Lt. Michael Mannion said papers in Grunewalds wallet listed 4100 Cathedral Avenue Washington as his address. The Dutchman Grunewald had featured in a congressional inquiry into influence.
U S District Judge Wallace S Gourley is expected to rule soon on a defense motion for acquittal for Hildur Nystrom and Samuel A Kennedy after a jury convicted them of conspiring to misapply 48000 bank funds in McKeesport. Defense says a new trial will be sought if denied. The verdict followed testimony about a bank fraud scheme at Union National Bank of McKeesport. Police said Grunewald and Ann Anderson were overcome by gas fumes from a kitchen stove. both were hospitalized in Jersey City.
