Rule Pa Has Until Wednesday
A federal judge in Pittsburgh gave Pennsylvania until Wednesday to resume welfare payments to about 640,000 state recipients or halt accepting federal funding. U S District Judge Barron McCune said payments to families with dependent children and those on Medicaid cannot be cut off due to partial federal funding, but the state may cancel its agreement with the federal agency funding 85 percent of the programs. He noted the state can choose to cancel the plans or provide the money to carry them out, warning against leaving the state insolvent.

Harrisburg still imposes only five dollars. Klobe might seek his old job back if fines are never enforced.
