David Felix and Maynard Gruegger led the bolters.
Four people, two couples, were badly hurt in a hit-and-run car crash on the Union City Wattsburg highway near Parkle Hall just north of Tito City. A. Z. Prewatt of Ol City and George Lowe of Jamestown were in separate vehicles. wives suffered significant injuries. Patrol officers investigate the evening wreck.

Mary Louise Trammell, 24, wife of Thomas Trammell a dining car conductor, was attacked and killed in a Chicago hotel room. Bloody fingerprints near her bed are the only clue as investigators say a prowler climbed through a hotel room window. Her door was bolted from inside when her husband returned from a trip. A separate item notes reporter Gwilyn Watkins, 63, died suddenly of a heart attack in Harrisburg.
