Corry Dogs rise in ECSL to chase playoff berth
The Corry Soccer Club, formed four to five years ago as the Corry Dogs, grew from a casual youth group into a competitive ECSL team. Led by John Downey and George Fox Jr, with goalie Dave Hurst, they expanded in 1974 to nine teams and a 16 game schedule, posting a 9-6 record and demanding respect with aggressive hustle and teamwork. They defeated Erie Atoms 3-1, then 5-1 over the Tribe, and face Gannon College in a must-win bid for the playoff spot, as 16 players share one common goal: never a lone star, but 14 dedicated boots.
