County Won’t Tax Trailers Under Real Estate Rules
Erie County faces limits on taxing the thousands of trailer homes. Solicitor Jacob Held reported to county commissioners that state opinions oppose treating trailers as real estate for taxation. He noted that while not tax free, trailers aren’t real estate per a recent court ruling, though some towns use police power licensing.
