Summer repair work in schools near finish
Summer repairs and cleaning in city school buildings are nearing completion. Chairman Cleve Morton said the property committee authorized a new wooden floor in the Senior High basement for classroom use, with oak flooring costing about 375 per thousand and not expected to exceed that. The committee will also repaint ridges on the Senior High roof, install new toilets in the boys department, and complete cleaning. The board approved these measures by six votes, and Morton noted possible savings by employing a "heady man" for carpentry and plumbing. Mrs. Grant Hosier was renamed janitor at Harding school at 39 dollars per month.

Erie August 15 definite steps toward final settlement of unpaid liens on Baldwin properties are planned this week. City Solicitor Murphy and official in charge Bernard Cocies study all liens to craft a compromise, seeking one offer for all liens and potential cessation of rent sequestration on Baldwin properties. Erie Aug 16 Mrs Martie Bawely 89 suffered severe injury when her right hand was torn by a dog wire as she opened a screen door at her home R D 1 N Girard. She edged her hand on the wire the dog leaped and knocked her back A doctor applied first aid then she was taken to St Vincent's hospital for treatment including an amputation of the hand in an accident that left her condition critical.
