Rockefeller Reduces Major Standard Oil Holdings
United Press reports John D. Rockefeller Jr has reduced about a quarter of his Standard Oil holdings in eight months. Gifts to charitable and scientific groups account for most of the $77,010,600 drop, including a June 28 gift of 2,100,000 shares in Socony Vacuum Oil. The SEC requires disclosure for holdings of 10 percent or more, and Rockefeller still held substantial stakes in Socony Vacuum, Standard Oil Company of New Jersey, and Standard Oil Company of California despite the reductions.
