Oil City seeks franchise in Pennsylvania baseball loop
Oil City plans to apply for a franchise in the Pennsylvania State Baseball League and possibly join as a farm club in the Middle Atlantic circuit. Monessen may also get a franchise as the league contemplates expanding to eight teams next season with Franklin rivalry revival as a possibility. Robert Quinn of the Boston Nationals is rumored to sponsor the Oil City club. Local politics hinder Erie ball park funds but county approval was secured with concessions to open the park when not leased by the Erie ball team.
