Free Suspect Released In Tate Slaying Case
Police released 19 year old William E. Garretson, held for questioning in the Sharon Tate killings and four others. Inspector Harold Yarnell said there is no reason to suspect him after two days in custody. Garretson’s lawyer said he was in a guest house room Friday and Saturday when the five were shot and stabbed to death. Investigators plan to question Tate’s friends. In a separate case, the LaBiancas were found murdered with hooded heads and bloodscrawled words, but police say the incidents appear unconnected.
