Montenegro Declares War on Germany Hindering Neutral Aims

The Montenegrin minister in Berlin presented a formal declaration of war on Germany and requested passports as part of the action. In Switzerland troops are to be recruited to guard the northern Italian border and uphold neutrality. At New York on August 12 Americans returning on the Potsdam described hard escape from Germany, losses of baggage, and delays reaching Rotterdam and Bologna.

Real Estate Market Shows Tight Supply and Sales

The Patterson agency reports the sale of the Skinner property on North Irving Street to D. J. Alexander, with tenants moving in September. Another Rauh Main Street house near Haut Ham has been sold to Mr. Molare of Dubin, who will occupy it promptly.

Boomer Chautauqua Meeting Promotes Season Tickets

A large Redpath Brockway Chautauqua group in Corry last evening urged active support. Matrica M Witherspoon urged a three day blitz to sell tickets with over three hundred already sold and seven hundred remaining. Guarantors called for cooperation to bring ten exciting performances August 20 to 26 and encouraged buying season tickets even if not all events are attended.

An notice asks all rural residents to expect a call about a Chautauqua program featuring leading judges senators and ministers, with opportunities to hear music and enjoy dramatics during the week.

Chautauqua Big Tent Heading to City League Grounds

The big Chautauqua tent will be pitched at City League park grounds on East Washington St. The canvas structure, new this summer, seats 444 to 4 000 with no reserved seats except two front rows. Four young men run the tent, led by superintendent WP Allen, a Gerry youth, in support of the movement. It will be set up next Wednesday and open Thursday afternoon September 20.

Corry Brick For Two New Erie Schools

The Corry Brick and Tie Co has been awarded a quarter million brick contract to furnish Columbus and Gridley boot buildings in Erie. A St Louis firm of contractors will enter the brick, first delivery by September 1, with bricks of special Jest n and size, larger than usual and of fine quality and color.
