Denenberg OKs Increase To Blue Shield
Insurance Commissioner Herbert Denenberg approves 11.8 million of an 25.8 million increase sought by Blue Shield, boosting premiums for about 3 million subscribers by an average 50 cents monthly. The rates take effect October 1 pending federal approval, affecting 56 percent of policyholders. Medical Society calls the move politically motivated and says it won’t cover losses, warning bankruptcy could come by year end if delays persist. Union City livestock prices listed for August 9 with ranges for hogs, cattle, calves, lambs.
