Sparta Merged School solicitor Joseph Thomas of Meadville will speak at the Sparta Boosters Club meeting at 8 30 pm tomorrow in the school gym. He will outline procedures to save the high school as the state seeks to close it. The district seeks to have the State Council of Education redraw the administration area for a separate Sparta Merged District and Rome Township. Principal Roland T Putnam, boosters president, says the state lacks power to close the school but may recommend it and impose financial pressure. A large crowd is expected.

Corry barn fire on Lindsey Hollow road destroyed a large barn owned by Joseph and Martin Janosec. Fire chief Jerome H. Davis said it started before discovery by a neighbor. Water from Corry units, Spartansburg and Columbus helped against the blaze. Damages about 4500 to structure and 1000 to contents. one heifer perished, three calves saved, hay, tractor, and equipment lost. no insurance.
