Hayes School Fourth Annual Reunion Held at Chelton Farm
The Hayes School held its fourth annual reunion at Chelton farm on Wednesday with about 100 teachers, pupils and friends attending from Ohio and North Carolina. Officers elected for the coming year were George Chase as president and Lahoma Blakeslee as secretary treasurer. A picnic lunch followed and a short program with music by Mrs. Frank Lillie preceded games and visiting. The group planned to hold the next reunion on the first Wednesday in August 1941 at the same location.

Pennsylvania 4-H club members will attend two meetings at Penn State College. The Leadership Training School for older boys and girls is set for August 12 to 14. Berry Patch bramble care stresses removing old canes and applying 150 to 200 pounds of superphosphate per acre with a cover crop. Pasture clipping will help cows eat, new grass and clover grow, and weeds decrease. Fall bulbs may come from Great Britain as spring bulbs from Holland are unlikely. Feeding plans for the dairy sire emphasize panture grass silage legume hay and grain. Poultry parasite control is advised.

Five year term for Erie burglar Timothy Russell jailed
Timothy Russell age 34 from Erie and his Buffalo accomplice James Volker 20 were sentenced after pleading guilty to a burglary at the Warren Co building on July 26. Russell received five years in the penitentiary and Volker one year in the Allegheny workhouse. Police arrested them soon after the crime as they attempted to flee with $60 in old coins. The case was heard by Judge Eimer J. Evans.
