City sewage costs soar from misfiled state aid
Public audit reveals a $17 592 deficit in the city sewage disposal fund for the year ended May 31 1958 due to missing state remittance forms. The city collected only $59 867 in rentals, short of the $60 000 target to pay Municipal Authority bonds. The error traces to late or missing Commonwealth filings during Earl T Cherry's administration, with responsibility not publicly assigned. The shortage was covered from a $2 277 June 1 1957 balance, and the matter is noted to have required further explanation.
