Dunkirk Suffered Three Farm Fires in One Day
Three separate farm fires around Dunkirk within 24 hours caused extensive loss. The Heese Collins farm two miles east of Sheridan Center burned barns and outbuildings, with equipment and crops destroyed estimated at over $6,000. A southside barn and a large Glasier farm barn on Webster road were destroyed, a tractor and other machinery lost, while a house near Sheridan suffered extensive damage though most furniture was removed. Firefighting crews fought with limited water supply, and nearby farms were mobilized to help. Insurance covered losses on the Collins and Glasier properties.
