A bank advertises a convenient note collection service for unpaid papers from customers. It promises to appraise, store, and collect notes with or without interest, offering credit for the same and inviting forwarding of future papers. The notice highlights the bank’s savings accounts and invites acquaintance with its security and service.
A two year old girl died after swallowing strychnine pills found in a physician’s bottle. The child, playing in a room, mistook the pills for candy and put them in her mouth despite her mother's warning. The tragedy occurred near Wind Ridge, Pennsylvania, on August 9.
Grand jury in New York prepared to hand down six additional murder indictments. Thousands witnessed the fatal parachute leap by balloonist Fanning, employed by Professor Hfutehinnaon, during a ascent at the Northern Tier fairgrounds in Newark Valley. The second parachutist failed to deploy, and Fanning was found dead outside the grounds after a fall about 50 feet.
