Turbines of the Turkish air force roared over northwestern Cyprus in a second show of backing for the Turkish Cypriots. No shots were fired, but orders to intervene were given if needed as fighting raged along the coast. A six year old Philadelphia woman, Mrs Aida Diel, was electrocuted after falling from the Broad Street Line southbound platform at Broad and Girard. Mrs. John F. Fitzgerald, grandmother of the late President John F. Kennedy, dies in Boston at 98. She passed at her son Thomas’s home, where she had lived in recent years, after a setback in old age. She watched Kennedy’s career on television and spoke warmly of him. Born Josephine Mary Hannon in Acton, Mass., she married in 1889 and raised six children including Rose Kennedy. Washington County man shot and killed his former wife on Midland main street then fatally shot himself in a car ride incident. Police say custody dispute over their 11 year old son Michael sparked the fatal shooting in Midland Nevada and Las Vegas connections noted. Dr Earl C Slipher 81 a planet authority died in Flagstaff Arizona after heart attack reports link to Lower Observatory work and Mars history for the space program.
Sen Barry Goldwater urged Republican candidates that foreign policy and Vietnam will be the top issue if President Johnson shifts Southeast Asia policy.
