Governor Earle signs Mothers' Aid Bill and appropriations
Harrisburg August 8 Governor Earle signed the mothers' assistance bill expanding the program to enable qualification for federal social security benefits. Anna Brancato of Philadelphia witnessed the signing at the executive mansion. The governor also approved a $75,000 appropriation for construction of river offenders’ fare at the Huntington prison. Fifteen bills and resolutions were approved, including two flood control measures and a $150,000 appropriation, plus provisions for corporate net income tax, unemployment relief transfers, institutional improvements, blind pensions, a $35,000,000 unemployment relief package, and emergency financing for the next legislature.
