Rochester obituary notes former Corry resident Frank Gebbie died Sunday night after a lingering illness. He was once connected with Corry’s milk plant and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bar Bellinigé of Jamestown and Miss Marion Gebbie of Rochester. Funeral services were held in Rochester.

One man, Toluy Jovisik, 45, died from heat prostration at Crucitte Steel Company, hospital beds remaining crowded. Light showers failed to ease the heat. Miss Bernie Ryan of Buffalo arrived to attend the Young-Phillip wedding.
George J. Breundin a top Midwest Democrat died at John 4 Murphy hospital at 10 a.m. He had suffered diabetes septic poisoning and kidney complications after an earlier tooth extraction. The 63-year-old Illinois political veteran led pre election campaigns and succeeded Roger Sullivan. He began in the secretary of state’s office in 1893 after working in coal mines and later became a school teacher and state official.
Howard Sheen fired 39 on the first nine holes of his presidents cup match with Al Miller at Corry Country Club. The high school coach led Miller after nine holes and checked in with a 99 overall, a remarkable score for a club member. Miller also played well but could not match Sheen’s inward run and form. The match drew strong interest from club members and a large gallery.
