Spahn and Clemente Inducted Into Baseball Hall of Fame
In Cooperstown Roberto Clemente and Warren Spahn were formally inducted alongside four others. The ceremony featured plaques unveiled by Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn. Clemente left a .317 career average with Pittsburgh and was killed in a 1972 plane crash while aiding earthquake victims in Nicaragua. Spahn, with 363 wins, 13 20-win seasons, two no hitters, and a longtime Braves stalwart, delayed his entrance after a brief 1966 1967 minor league period.
