Nostalgia Lures Nixon To Former Home
President Nixon surprised residents of Menges Mills Pennsylvania by visiting the farm his parents owned from 1947 to 1956 and the local general store and post office. He arrived from Hanover after leaving Camp David and spoke briefly with Postmaster Carl Stambaugh and Mrs Sterling Myers about the piano his mother left behind. The Nixon birthplace museum in Yorba Linda now holds the piano and Nixon joked about returning for a Cabinet meeting. Eisenhower's Gettysburg farm lies about 20 miles away.
