United Press reports continued casualty tallies from the Franco American offensive. The Chey Commission convened its first August session with Mayor Atexasdee presiding and five members in attendance. Preparations complete for a large community festival at St Thomas Parish property with tents lights and booths. Proceeds from Tag Day and festival support Corry Chapter and St Thomas Church ladies. Expected many attendees as ideal weather favors the event.
Dispatch from the War Department confirms Army private Leo Allen was killed in action on July 26 during a major offensive. He is survived by his parents Cornitus and {last name unreadable} Allen of Dawore atpel OlynmnrD. The notice notes he enlisted in the regular army after school and served at Camp Han Lack jen Allin Taw before being sent to the front.
The Ladies of St Elizabeths Teed Cross Unit No 6 prepare to aid at Red Cross Headquarters tomorrow afternoon at 2 o clock. Single ladies will gather at the Red Cross Surgical Dressings rooms in the federal Building tomorrow evening to complete hospital retirement relief work. Rev Dr L Foulke has been invited to speak on a three week patriotic series in October at Oxark Mountain under White Plains Community association.
