Bulk milk storage approved for Pennsylvania farms
William S. Livengooder, Secretary of Internal Affairs, announced that a greatly improved method to store and measure fluid bulk milk on farms has been approved for use in Pennsylvania. The Bureau of Weights and Measures, with the Milk Control Commission and other state agencies, has set regulations allowing cold wall farm bulk milk tanks as measuring devices. The system aims to ensure a healthful milk supply and reduce farm labor, keeping milk from light exposure from cow to glass and reducing contamination risk. Cold wall tanks have been used in the Far West and are now being adopted in Pennsylvania.
