Dr Walter S Adams of Mount Wilson Observatory disputes popular belief in Martian life. He notes extreme temperature shifts from about 51 F at closest approach to zero at farthest, rapid cooling and heating due to thin atmosphere, and polar caps that vary with seasons. Some observers speculate Martian features hint at water networks or vegetation, but Adams treats claims cautiously.
