Indonesians Join Dutch In Ordering Cease Fire
Indonesian and Dutch authorities ordered a cease fire with midnight start. Dutch Acting Governor Hubertus J. Van Mook issued the order despite questions about Security Council powers. Jogjakarta broadcasts said the republic agrees with the cease fire terms and will cooperate, but calls for both sides to withdraw along the demarcation lines set on October 14, 1946.
