Rail workers reach 42 percent wage deal to end 18 day strike

Washington AP reports a contract settles with a 42 percent raise over 42 months for about 200000 trainmen. Pickets to be removed from 10 strikebound railroads at noon. The agreement ends an 18 day dispute across major railroads after marathon talks at the Labor Department.

Corry Woman Hurt In Crash

A Corry woman, Minnie Vanderhoof, was treated and released from Corry Memorial Hospital after a one car crash on Route 77 three miles east of Spring Creek. The vehicle, driven by Carol Lillie of Texas, struck two trees after a tire blew. $300 in damages reported. A second Route 8 crash near Riceville Corners involved Ronald Max of Pittsburgh who was not injured though his car suffered about $2,500 damage after going off the road following a passing vehicle.
