Fighting Flares Again In Cyprus
Fighting raged today between Turkish soldiers and Greek Cypriot forces despite a cease-fire. Observation flights to map cease-fire lines were halted after the U N Security Council failed to approve the Geneva accord due to a Soviet veto. The clashes centered around Lapithos near Kyrenia as Turkish forces pushed toward the town, with Greek Cypriot commandos reportedly attacking and destroying tanks. Newsmen noted a Turkish tank burning and forecast a cabinet reshuffle under acting president Glafcos Clerides.
