County Vows Push for East Access Bridge Amid State Opposition
County commissioners kept a tough stance on building an East Access Bridge from Erie to Presque Isle. State funds for a $1 million feasibility study were denied, though state highway officials did not object to local financing. The East Access Association and county leadership remained vocal, while related tax bills for ad devices to aid mentally retarded and crippled children moved in Harrisburg. Also reported: a Pueblo crash where a cow on Burnt Mill Road caused a car to veer into a ditch, injuring the driver and killing another cow, with $400 property damage.
