Three persons escaped serious injury in a light plane crash in the Laure Mountains near Ligonter in Westmoreland County. Pilot Roger King, 29, of Farrington, was admitted to McGinnis Hospital in satisfactory condition. Two 17 year old passengers Robert Kushner and Robert Weir, of Pasques near Pittsburgh, were treated and released.
A tornado ripped through Elgin yesterday damaging the Nelson farm. Volunteers cleared debris, tarped wrecked buildings, and salvaged hay and livestock shelter space. Local crews from Fire and Civil Defense aided traffic control as residents rallied to recover.
Warren authorities identified Richard J. Ander as the drowning victim in the Allegheny River. Fire department divers recovered the body near Warren after witnesses said the man entered the water while partially clothed, with unclear immediate cause.
