Thirty six injured in refinery blast at Vincennes Indiana

Thirty six employees of the Indian Refinery Company of Lawrenceville Indiana were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital after an explosion at the plant. One worker said the steam still head blew after startup. Fire crews fought flames as gasoline sprayed and the blaze was contained. The plant's capacity is about 15,000 barrels per day and about twelve hundred men are employed onsite.

Police received a call around six about a car loaded with liquor being unloaded at a Second ward house. Chief Tipton and Officer Ruppersberger found a New York registered car with advertising circulars. no liquor was found. Gasoline Blast Sets Toledo Varnish Plant Ablaze

Field Meet Opens Today at Mt Gretna

Airplanes from the 103rd observation squadron of the Pennsylvania National Guard photographed and assisted in a small scale battery between units of the 218th coast artillery and aircraft. Units conducted practice marches and emplacement hunts while infantry battalions engaged in combat problems. Major General William G. Price Jr. was to review marchers and oversee track and field events as athletes prepared in the athletic bay. Karl Morris of Pittsburgh arrived for a visit with relatives.

Start Work Soon on New Athletic Field Facility

A. Geiger, school district business manager, asked for bids on grading and preliminary work for a new athletic field to be built on district property near Dunior High School in the second ward. Harrisburg plans provide complete specs for a modern complex including football field, baseball diamond, track, two playgrounds, tennis courts, croquet, volleyball, and horseshoe pits, with grading starting this summer to be followed by football field readiness for fall games and baseball by spring.
