Walter Windahl was feted at a retirement party last evening at the VFW Post home after 45 years with the Corry Jamestown Corporation. Fifty five fellow employees and guest Alvah Johnson attended and presented a tractor with mower attachment. Remarks were offered by D. A. Hillstrom C. A. Hillstrom and Charles Williams along with Corry Jamestown officials and Mr Johnson.
Miss Peggy Kirch Weds Larry Eugene Jackson in a April 8 ceremony at Wayne Valley Evang elical United Brethren Church with Rev. Hubert Gastor officiating. Guests from Erie Mayville Cleveland Cook's Forest Wattsburg attended. The couple will reside at 107 West Irving Street. she is a 1983 Corry Area Wet School graduate, he a 1962 CAHS graduate.
Allen H. Kuhn Corry district manager of the Pennsylvania Electric Company spoke to the Corry Management Club at the VEW Post home. He described Penelec facilities and the district's geography covering Erie Warren and Crawford counties along with boundary details and the response of crews during last month’s ice storm.
Jonathan Lodge met last evening at the IOOF Hall and decided to donate to Odd Fellows Lodges in Alaska that lost property and equipment in the recent quake. Richard Mountain announced a degree conferral on May 6 for Crawford County candidates at the local Odd Fellows Hall. Fred L. Mixer, Walter E. Davis of Jonathan Lodge No 685 and Corry Encampment No 241 were mustered into Canton No 47.
Members of the Corry Bridge Association met at the Wayne Street home of Mr and Mrs Morgan Beverly for a two table session with a 10 percent average. Winners include Mrs J Fred Kinley Mrs Robert Tunnell and Mrs T S Kelsey. The Bartholmes of Union City tied at 10 percent. An annual dinner meeting with officer election will be held in the Garden Room at the VFW Post after next week’s play with dinner at 6 pm.
Last evening the YMCA all-purpose room hosted a piano recital by students of Mrs. Florence I Flowers. A large audience enjoyed solos duets and a trio including a trumpet solo Alvarado by Mary Bennett and many named performers. Attendance will receive the trophy. last year the Sword of the Spirit Club won it.
A Bible Club rally will be held Saturday starting at 2 p m at the Evan Center on North Center Street. Speaker Uncle Jim Hutchinson a mission ary and chalk artist has spoken in 14 European countries and in Jordan Israel the Bahamas and the United States. Activities include Bible quizzes and drills for grades one to seven with awards for winners. Jeffery Ceach has learned 250 verses and will receive a leather bound Scofield Bible as the top club prize.
