Tax Collectors Refuse To Turn Over Records In Audit
A proposed audit of borough and township tax records sparked complaints from tax collectors who say their honesty is attacked and refuse to surrender records. Commissioner von W. Platley was asked to obtain 1931 and 1995 records while some collectors seek to re operate rather than relinquish possession. Schauman cites perceived overtaxation and accuses city officials of inconsistent collection practices.
