Open House Planned for 25th Anniversary in Spartansburg
An open house and reception will honor Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gales for their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday May 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the home of their grandchildren Mr. and Mrs. Donald Brown in Spartansburg. Hosts include their children Duane Lindsey Dolores Lindsey Pat Swart Terry Lindsey and Roseanne Swanson. The couple wed April 24 1950.

In a medium saucepan melt butter then saute onion and green pepper for 3 minutes. Stir in flour for 1 minute, then add tomatoes salt and sugar. Boil and thicken, then stir in half the toast squares. Pour into greased casserole, top with remaining toast. Bake at 373 F until hot and bubbly about 15 minutes. Yield 4 portions.
Tornado Touches Statesboro Airport Amid Front
A fast moving cold front produced a line of storms from Nebraska to Central Texas. In Statesboro Georgia four small planes were badly damaged in a circular arrangement, with authorities saying a brief tornado touched down at the airport. No injuries were reported. Tornado watches were issued for east Oklahoma Northwest Arkansas and Southeast Missouri as five weekend tornadoes were tracked. Temperatures ranged from 78 in St. Petersburg Florida to 22 in Butte Montana.

Show Tell and Sell bazaar marks fifth year success
The Corry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its fifth annual Show Tell and Sell bazaar at the State Armory on East Washington. About 50 people and groups displayed crafts and hobbies across 60 plus displays with demonstrations in china painting and weaving. Major prizes included a hand made Shillcraft rug won by Mrs. Hubert Vaughn and savings accounts by Dianne Cross and Betty Reed. many others received special prizes. Mrs. Paul Roche Sr. thanked chairmen, committees, organizations, merchants and individuals for the event’s huge success.
