Corry Tax Group Urges School District to End Double Dip
The Corry Earned Income Tax Committee asks Corry Area School District to collect its share of income taxes directly from surrounding townships and municipalities. The current system pays township tax collectors twice, splitting funds with the school. Committee members note practical hurdles and possible staff impacts but seek a direct school payment to reduce double handling and costs. Officials say payments to the school district have reached about $36,000 this year with a planned total of $90,000 to the school and city, per the committee budget.
