Cairo authorities move to arrest 52 people including 12 army officers on charges of plotting with Communists to cause trouble on May Day. NEW conn-wesqmmienet Wuctric Corp. today reported its highest first quarter profits in history. Net income of $26,206,000 was $11 per common share on 16,000,207 shares outstanding and exceeded by 6.9 percent the prior quarter’s $16,858,000 or $1.04 per share. Presidents Price told the board the quarter was second only to 1960s final quarter. First quarter sales reached $406,097,000, the third highest for three months, up from $282,296,000 a year ago. Net income per dollar of sales rose to 61 cents from 44 cents.
Ta Tao news agency cites Red China pledging to counter a Southeast Asia anti communist pact with more than 50 divisions. A high ranking Communist officer provided details of planned counter forces to thwart U S led moves amid Mulles proposed regional alliance.
