Corry YMCA Delays Capital Drive Amid Salvation Army Crisis

Corry YMCA directors unanimously forego a capital fund drive until the Salvation Army solves its East Washington Street building condemnation emergency. The United Fund also holds off approving new campaigns while focusing on this year’s October appeal. City to Spend Less on Paving This Summer for Storm Drainage

City officials announce a lighter paving schedule this summer to prioritize storm drainage. Elementary Pupils To Stage Music Festival

Scranton proposes $63 million state education plan

Harrisburg. Governor William Scranton asks the legislature to pass a sweeping education aid program. It would replace the current subsidy maze with a single formula based on the actual cost of educating two million public school children. The plan calls for state shares to help replace aging school buildings, make Temple University a state university, and assist community colleges with construction costs and faculty pensions. The proposal adds about $8 million next fiscal year and $53 million starting July 1, 1966.
