Lame Ducks Threaten Leader Program In Harrisburg
Seven Democratic incumbents failed to gain renomination in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Read Inger warned some lame ducks may skip the May adjournment vote while Bazin and Rosen pledged loyalty to the administration but would not commit to voting for any plan before final adjournment. Polen Cochran Pettigrew and two others also fell, altering leadership dynamics in the House. In statewide races Judge Benjamin Jones narrowly defeated Henry O'Brien for a Supreme Court term. Sen Duff led the ticket with Dwight Eisenhower topping all candidates in the presidential primary.
